Mohaka was bred for improved early growth and cool season activity over the long rotation tetraploid Ohau. Mohaka is a broader leaved, well tillered hybrid suited to 2-4 year pastures.
Performance Data
Mohaka can be used as a short to medium term pasture for sheep and beef finishing, as well as being a high-performance hybrid ryegrass suited to dairy platforms, undersowing and runoffs for high quality silage production. For a tetraploid hybrid pasture, Mohaka has good density for short periods of set stocking and winter grazing. It has a good spring growth habit while maintaining low aftermath seeding in summer helping with pasture quality through into autumn. Mohaka with AR37 endophyte offers increased protection against insect attack and increasing long term benefits, however it is not suitable for deer and horse pastures.

Dairy
Mohaka AR37 is a high performance hybrid ryegrass and is highly suited to dairy runoff and supplementary feed pastures. The strengths of autumn and winter production helps with pasture cover at these critical times and its summer leafiness and low aftermath seed head makes Mohaka an ideal variety to maintain high quality summer silage production.
